Overview

Originally founded as an institution of higher education in 1834 and awarded university charter as the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1963.
Following a re-branding exercise in 2006, the university's official trading name is now Newcastle University.

The employability of students is enhanced by ncl+, an integrated package of opportunities and experiences offered to all students who wish to develop skills that are attractive to employers. The ncl+ approach brings together hundreds of opportunities to deliver a high level of skills to students. Working with employers remains high on the university’s agenda.
