What Will You Study
Lancaster’s degree in Accounting, Finance and Mathematics (Industry) will develop your understanding of the professional application of advanced mathematical and statistical techniques in accountancy and finance. Accredited by the major British accountancy bodies, your degree also provides exemptions from certain professional examinations.
You will study the core aspects of Accounting and Finance, such as external and internal reporting, investor decision-making, and market analysis. You’ll also learn the key elements of relevant Mathematics, such as calculus, probability and statistics.
Your degree begins with the study of first-year subjects including an Introduction to Accounting and Finance, Calculus, and Matrix Methods. In your second year, you’ll move on to modules such as Accounting Information Systems and Auditing; Principles of Financial Accounting, and Management Accounting for Business Decisions. You will then spend your third year undertaking an industrial placement before returning to Lancaster for your fourth year where you will study subjects such as Bond Markets, Taxation, Bayesian Inference and Stochastic Processes.
