In today’s world, where global competition is fierce and international brands are flooding the market, companies need qualified communication managers. This course trains you to become a specialist in the fields of business, marketing and corporate communication. HAN graduates are familiar with the full scope of the communication business, but can also easily focus on a specific area.

Students learn to apply the theory they are taught in the course to real-life practice. They conduct research in the fields of identity, image building or customer satisfaction. Graduation assignments often involve writing a plan for strategic marketing, strategic branding, public relations, internal communications or online communications.

Since this course has an international focus, you will study in English and take another language of your choice: Dutch, French, German or Spanish. This ensures that you graduate with a thorough knowledge of other cultures and languages.

Moreover, you will share a classroom with students from all over the world. Each year, Arnhem Business School welcomes an impressive international mix of students from an average of 30 countries.

Career prospects

Would you like to work at an advertising agency? Manage public relations for a non-profit organisation? Launch the latest campaign for a worldwide brand? This international communication course will prepare you for numerous positions in the broad field of communication.

Medium-sized and larger organisations often have vacancies for communication graduates, usually in marketing or communication departments. Advisory positions are another possibility: for example, in government institutions such as municipalities and ministries. There is also a need for communication graduates in publishing houses, PR companies, advertising agencies, media agencies and corporate communication bureaus.

The Bachelor of Communication degree qualifies you for middle and higher management positions. HAN graduates usually begin their career on an operational and tactical level within the field of international communication. This includes jobs such as:

  • marketing communication officer
  • public relations officer
  • junior account manager
  • communication officer

Within 5 years, graduates are often able to advance into more tactical and strategic positions. These include jobs such as:

  • international corporate communication manager
  • international marketing communication manager
  • senior account manager
  • public relations manager
  • spokesperson
  • account director at an international advertising agency
  • international brand manager
  • social media manager

Location

HAN University of Applied Sciences has two campuses, located in Arnhem and Nijmegen.

Nijmegen is situated on the banks of the river Waal, in the east of The Netherlands, near to the German border, and is the oldest city in Holland - recently celebrating its 2,000th anniversary.

Arnhem, the capital of the province of Gelderland, is only 15km from Nijmegen and lies partially in the hills at the edge of National Park De Veluwe, a striking area of woods and heath. Arnhem is a ‘green’ city, where people take pleasure in living, working and recreation.
