Art history candidates learn how to understand the visual information in the world around us and to interpret visual culture in cultural and historical context. Students develop marketable skills in critical and creative thinking, visual literacy, problem-solving, and communication. Coursework integrates knowledge of world cultures with practice in close looking, careful description, historical research and interpretive writing. Opportunities Graduates will find opportunities to work with creative people and fascinating collections (artistic, historical and contemporary) at cultural organizations, art museums and galleries, educational institutions, and in corporate settings. Graduates are also qualified to pursue advanced study in art history or related fields.
