The main campus is in Parkville, only a few minutes from the very centre of Melbourne. It’s a beautiful mix of historic sandstone buildings, contemporary architecture, sustainable design and stunning outdoor spaces that are a perfect place to sit and catch up on your readings.
The Southbank campus hosts the Victorian College of the Arts and part of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. It offers purpose-built teaching and performance facilities for arts training, and is centrally located within Melbourne’s cultural and arts precinct, sitting right alongside the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Theatre Company.

The Melbourne University Library is one of the busiest in Australia, and holds extensive collections books, DVDs, photographic slides, music scores, periodicals, children's toys and cultural collections. It operates in more than a dozen locations across several campuses. The branches see more than 1.4 million visits every year and our web sites serve more than 3 million visitors. In a single year the students, academic staff, professional staff, alumni and other Library Members complete more than 1.3 million loans and renewals.
The University of Melbourne has 11 residential colleges that are an ideal accommodation option if you are not from Melbourne. Living at a residential college can provide a fast way to build an academic and social network. The colleges provide sporting and cultural programs to enrich your academic experience in a thriving, warm and supportive community. All the colleges have fees but there are also accommodation scholarships available.
Around the campus are the suburbs of Parkville, Carlton, North Melbourne and Brunswick. All of them are a very short distance away by public transport. You might choose to live in one of the many "share houses" in one of these suburbs, with other students. Not only can you save money on rent and bills, you also enjoy an atmosphere of student living with like-minded people.

The Parkville Campus of the University is in a city central location and has many public transport hubs within a 5 minute walk from campus. Most other campuses are available to get to via public transport.
