Entry requirements

Undergraduate

To apply for undergraduate courses the following is required:

  • A-levels or IB: subjects and grades requirements vary depending on the course or School leaving certificate equivalent to UK A-Levels or
  • School leaving certificate and successful completion of International Foundation programme.
  • IELTS from 5.5 if English is not the first language of an applicant.
  • Creative portfolio might be required for arts, design and architecture related courses.
  • BMAT or UKCAT tests will be required for medical and some biomedical courses.
  • Application should be submitted online via UCAS.

Postgraduate

To apply for postrgraduate courses the following is required:

  • A Bachelor degree from the university in the UK or approved institution of higher education outside the UK or Professional qualifications can be accepted for some courses.
  • IELTS from 6.0 if English is not the first language of an applicant.
  • If grades at Bachelor degree are not sufficient, Pre-Masters programme can be taken by International students prior to their Master studies.
  • Relevant working experience might be required for some courses.
  • GMAT can be required for some business releated courses.
  • Creative portfolio might be required for arts, design and architecture related courses.
  • Application should be submitted online on the website of the University or via UCAS Postgraduate.

LSE receives applications via UCAS; we do not consider applications made 'direct' to the School. Before you apply you should read all of the information and guidance on the 'How to apply' pages and on the degree programmes pages.


The UCAS office opening date for the receipt of applications for admission in October 2014 is 1 September 2013.The last date for the receipt of applications to LSE to qualify for full and equal treatment is 15 January 2014 by 18.00 (GMT). Please note- LSE do not participate in UCAS Extra, Adjustment or Clearing.
