Education studies The education modules the student may study include: learning and teaching; history of education and educational policy; the context of education; education in a post-industrial society; knowledge and the curriculum; political sociology; the social construction of childhood; research methodology; whilst some of the modules are compulsory, others are optional, thus allowing the student to build the degree that suits them; in the 2nd year of the course the student has the opportunity to select the special placement option; this work placement, at home or abroad, may or may not take place in a school; following the placement the student is expected to write an assignment based on their experiences and present their findings to a seminar group.
Durham is situated in the North of England. The best way to get to Durham is by train as the station links to most large cities across Britain. The Queen’s campus in Stockton is also best accessed by train.
