This course enables the student to study education alongside modules from one of the partner departments; this allows development within, and comparison and contrast with, areas of the the two subjects (traditional and new and developing areas); this provides the student with an understanding of process of learning and diversity of learners, including some key paradigms and their impact on educational practices (and including their own learning), and the complex interactions between education and its contexts, and relationships with other disciplines; the student will also develop an understanding of issues of similarity and contrast between research methodologies in education and music and the nature of knowledge in music as a subject and its curricular implications.
