There are several events going on at campus at any given time. Any student can actively participate in any of clubs and organizations: musical groups, performance arts, journalism and publication of independent student newspaper or non-commercial radio station. Besides, Maryland athletic teams are very strong and include 20 men's and women's sports like basketball, football, lacrosse, hockey and others. There is also an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as "Terp Zone" which includes: Bowing, playing pool, and playing video games.

The university offers multiple housing and dining options, something to fit every student need! Students at the University of Maryland can choose to live on campus, off-campus in the immediate College Park area, or elsewhere in the region.
Residence halls are located on campus so undergraduate students have easy access to campus services. Priority is given to first-time freshmen and those returning to the dorms. There are usually long wait-lists, so students should apply early.
The campus of the university is noted for its red-brick Georgian buildings and its large central lawn, named McKeldin Mall. White columns decorate many buildings, with around 770 columns existing on campus.
There are two main residential areas on campus, North Campus and South Campus, which are further divided into seven residential communities. There are two main dining halls on campus, which provide all students with fresh meals. Dining on campus offers a myriad of options from convenience stores to full-service restaurants, and everything in between.
