Admissions decisions are based on an overall evaluation of the applicant’s academic prospects, taking a holistic approach. The basis of such an evaluation is the documents submitted by the applicant, which are used to assess the applicant’s academic achievements, relevant extracurricular activities, interest in the applied course, language proficiency, performance competency, and other factors.
Depending on the policy of the specific college or department, the applicant may be asked to undertake interviews, examinations, and/or a performance test. In such a case, the applicant will be individually notified of these details by the corresponding department or college. The following documents are to be examined as the admissions criteria:
Applicants must submit at least one proof document of language proficiency either in Korean or English. In case of being unable to submit a proof document as listed below, other supporting documents may be submitted instead. Such documents should be officially approved ones clearly demonstrating the level of language proficiency.
Korean: TOPIK, KLPT
English: TEPS, TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC
The document(s) should be published by the applicant’s high school or the Ministry of Education; such documents may include information about the curriculum, availability of advanced coursework, enrollment capacity, grade distribution, standardized test performance distributions, student selection process, admissions requirements, and ratio of students pursuing tertiary education.
SNU's academic year begins in the Spring. The university offers international student admissions for the Fall semester as well as the Spring. Please note the following important dates:
Period : January - February
Period : January - February. After completing the online application, the required documents should arrive at the SNU Office of Admissions by due date.
International admission type II (Undergraduate) applicant who received the entire education abroad applying for the following programs: Fine Arts, Music, or Physical Education, may be subject to a performance test. In such a case, the corresponding College/Department will individually notify the applicants for futher details.
Period - April. Results are posted on the SNU website NOTICE
Period - August. Either at the branches of NongHyup Bank, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank nationwide or via virtual account transfer
Period - August. SNU website will indicate those who are required to take the Korean proficiency Test on the admission result announcement screen.
Seoul city has a very organized public transportation system and you may come and visit Seoul National University easily by using the bus and subway. Gwanak Campus, the main campus of the university, is located at the foot of the magnificent Gwanak Mountains in a 4.8 km² area. The Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Dentistry and the University Hospital are all located on the Yeongeon Campus in downtown Seoul.
