Overview

A little over a century ago, the National University of Singapore (NUS) was born in a bustling metropolis at the crossroads of Asia. Today’s NUS is a thought leader with a distinctive Asia perspective. Today, it is Singapore’s flagship university consistently ranked among the top two universities in Asia and top 25 in the world. Its 16 faculties and schools across three campus locations in Singapore – Kent Ridge, Bukit Timah and Outram – provide a broad-based curriculum underscored by multi-disciplinary courses and cross-faculty enrichment. NUS’ transformative education includes programmes such as student exchange, entrepreneurial internships at NUS Overseas Colleges, and double degree and joint degree programmes with some of the world’s top universities, offering students opportunities and challenges to realise their potential.

NUS started out as a modest medical school in 1905, founded by a determined group of businessmen led by Tan Jiak Kim, to serve the needs of the local community. From modest beginnings as a medical college with 23 students, the University now spans three campuses, enrolls more than 37, 000 student in many critical fields of study and has partnerships around the world.

NUS has been consistently ranked among the best universities in the world.
