Entry requirements
Applicants should normally have a second class honours degree or equivalent. Where this is not met they must show that their experience and qualifications enable them to study at postgraduate level through the uptake of references or through completing a reflective assignment on their practice.
For the mental health pathway, an equivalent qualification is the Post Qualifying Award in Social Work or the University of Ulster’s inter-professional development module in mental health.
Social work applicants must have a recognised social work qualification, be registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council and normally have at least two years' post-qualification experience.
Applications from cognate disciplines must meet similar criteria including recognition of their qualification from a professional body.
All applicants must be currently engaged for at least 12 hours per week in a setting in which professional values underpin their practice with service users or patients and have agency support.
For the education and training pathway, applicants must have demonstrated their ability in supporting the developments of others. For this pathway, it is desirable that applicants have PQ competences 1 to 4 or equivalent requirements in the specific award.
