Studying in a friendly and competitive studio-based environment, you will learn how to use your individuality to create unique design solutions that tackle everyday situations. During study, and when on your industry placement you will work with global brands giving you real-world experience. Recent partnerships have included organisations such as Unilever, Diageo, Orange and British Airways, and leading design consultancies such as Native, Matter, For people and Seymourpowell.
You will have access to industry-standard technologies including the latest CNC and 3D Printing machinery, and facilities to support work across a range of mediums including sketching, model making, product design and prototyping interactions.
This degree is for independent creative thinkers interested in the world around them. You will passionately pursue innovative design solutions during project or assignment-based challenges. Emphasis is placed on experiential learning including personal enquiry, information synthesis and communication. You will favour a hands-on approach with and a desire to broaden you're understanding of a wider design influence. You will aspire to work within one or a few of the following areas; design, product design, industrial design, service design, experience design, interaction design, forecasting and brand strategy. This course will suit those wanting to move into positions of creative influence; practitioners what will shape the future

Northumbria University is located right in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne –one of the UK’s best student cities. It is half an hour away from stunning blue flag beaches, historic castles and rambling countryside.
