Theory modules include: Foundations in midwifery; fundamentals in midwifery; pathophysiology in pregnancy; pathophysiology in labour and the puerperium; the sick neonate; social/ethical dimensions in child bearing and management. Students have the option of graduating at the end of the programme with either a Bachelor of Midwifery degree or a DipHE, both options leading to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC); the BM requires students to study additional modules at level 3; on graduation there is a planned option to extend to an Honours degree.
