Drama studies Year 1: 4 modules to provide a practical and theoretical introduction to drama involving technical skills of lighting, sound and computer-based scenic design; theatre history; theories of performance and acting technique; scripting and directing skills. Year 2: Practical skills are developed through the study of naturalistic and non-naturalistic dramatic practices from the early modern period through contemporary post-modern theatres. Year 3: Independence in the choice of modules as well as the opportunity to focus on individual interests. English Year 1: Modules include: poetry and society; introduction to the novel; introduction to drama; writing and screening. Year 2: Modules include: Medieval and renaissance literature; 18th- and 19th-century literature; 20th- and 21st-century literature; ways of reading. Year 3: Modules include: English dissertation; modernism; 20th-century women’s writing; Geoffrey Chaucer; contemporary poetry; writing the self; English in the workplace; 19th-Century fiction and history; colonialism/postcolonialism; 20th-century American literature; studies in literature and film; text and technology.
