This course provides students with independent learning skills and an understanding of criminal perspectives as a major component, as well as a fundamental science in forensic science; the course covers aspects of criminal behaviour and perspectives with physical and scientific examination of trace evidence, students gain a range of skills in applied criminology as well as transferable skills which combine to develop an understanding of professional practice, risk management and policy developments; study of forensic science focuses on biological, chemical and physical investigations which provides students with a grounding in scientific theory, evidence examination and analysis; forensic science is put in context with modules such as crime science processing and criminal law; students complete a research dissertation in the 3rd year under the guidance of an academic supervisor.
