The course develop students’ knowledge and understanding of criminal behaviour and perspectives; the theory and practice is then applied to the community and criminal justice sector; students gain a range of skills in applied criminology as well as transferable skills which combine to develop an understanding of professional practice, risk management and policy developments across the sector; in the third year students can choose from a range of elected modules, such as mental health and substance misuse or policing; students have the option of a dissertation or practice-related research module; there is a variety of teaching methods including lectures, e-learning, workshops, seminars, essays, individual presentations, group presentations, guest speakers, self assessments, research and case study projects.
