Education At level 1, the student studies 3 introductory modules, including 1 in learning difficulty; at levels 2 and 3 the student has a chance to study theoretical questions such as thinking and learning, or education in Europe and how to meet individual needs of pupils; the student has an opportunity to pursue their own particular interests through a choice of options or independent study; a substantial dissertation option at level 3 could give the student an opportunity to do a project relating to the other half of their award. Psychology Level 1: Psychological research processes: This module provides an introduction to the research processes used in psychology, in order to understand articles and texts that the student studies. Developmental and social psychology 1: this module introduces a range of themes and perspectives within developmental and social psychology, in order to provide a framework in which the student can develop a critical and analytical approach to research in this area. Perspectives in psychology: this module introduces the student to the discipline of psychology, its definition and boundaries; it familiarises the student with the historical development of contrasting perspectives and approaches in psychology, together with fundamental philosophical issues about the nature of knowledge, the nature of people and the ways that problems are investigated; it enables the student to apply psychological ideas and methods to their immediate experience, and encourages the student to enhance their skills for studying. Level 2: persons in relation: this module examines: relationships in childhood; adolescent friendships; friendships in later life; intersubjectivity; solitude and loneliness; attraction; love; sexuality; marriage; social support. Developmental and social psychology 2: building on the study carried out in level 1, this module explores further perspectives in developmental and social psychology, further developing the critical analysis of this area. Aspects of cognition: this module introduces and explores the study of the mind in terms of its function; these functions include perception, memory and thought. Level 3: a range of options is available at level 3, enabling the student to pursue their own particular interests.
