Bristol, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), BA (Hons), Early Childhood Studies and English Language (including pathway for English as a second language)
Early childhood studies Contemporary study of early childhood invites a re-consideration of what it means to be a child, a parent, a carer and a human being; on the course the student asks some challenging and fascinating questions: what is play and what purpose does it serve? what kind of care ought children be entitled to? if children have rights, do they have responsibilities? what does social policy have to do with young children? at what age is it possible to identify children as having special educational needs? as well as asking these questions the student is expected to collect data on current provision for young children.
