AUB’s Film and Photography courses have an excellent reputation nationally, and this Foundation Diploma (Media programme) is the perfect place to start.
This programme offers a more focused ‘First Stage’ of the course before you choose a pathway specialism. This diploma is for those students who work primarily with the lens, mainly photographers and filmmakers. Animators would generally choose to study on the main Art and Design Programme because drawing is key to animation and is not feature of the Media programme.
On the media Programme you will carry out a range of ‘lens-based’ projects in the first stage, exploring camera use, digital manipulation, video, sound and editing.
You will also be encouraged to broaden your research and practice into a more experimental context. You will engage with many of the same units as the main Art and Design course: research, ideas development, practical skills and evaluation.
Media programme students will choose either the Photography or Film and Animation pathways for Stage 2 and 3 study. Many of our diploma students progress after the course to our Honours degree courses in Photography, Commercial Photography, or Film Production at AUB.
AUB is located on the south coast of England, two miles from the centre of Bournemouth. It has good train links to London and other big cities.
Bournemouth is the furthest easterly point of the Jurassic Coast, England’s first Natural World Heritage site, which spans 95 miles of unspoilt countryside of exceptional natural beauty and historic geology. Subsidised bus routes operate to and from the campus. Good cycle paths are in place.
