Zuyd is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands. Zuyd offers students the best of both worlds. On the one hand Zuyd has all the advantages of a large institution: a wide range of courses, excellent facilities and modern buildings. On the other hand the university also features relatively small faculty communities in three cities. The interactive learning environments for group work guarantee a personal approach. Zuyd students and staff are individuals with names, faces, personal histories and characters
Zuyd campus offers students modern and fully equipped on-campus facilities: libraries featuring modern computer and study facilities, restaurants and cafeterias, transport and parking facilities, sports and recreation centers and many others.
In addition, there are dozens of student organization of various interest. Joining a student association during study is fun as well as educational and will help students make themselves feel at home! Some faculties or study programs have their own dedicated clubs and associations. There are also a number of general student organizations.
Zuyd offers a free two-day introduction programme to welcome international exchange and degree seeking students at the beginning of the autumn and spring semester. The series of interesting activities and events organized on campus enable incoming students to meet fellow students and staff, have lots of fun, familiarize themselves not only with the university but also with the city of Maastricht, interesting regions on the outskirts and the Dutch culture.
As for an international student, it is most likely to live in the city of Maastricht, because all the English-taught programs are located here. Maastricht is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities of the Netherlands.
The city is one of the most popular study destinations in the Netherlands for international students. In the historic city center, students will find all a student needs: bars, restaurants and many shops. There is a plenty of entertainment for an active student life with great theatres, cinemas, festivals, jazz cafés and sports facilities for students. Maastricht is a relatively small and safe city with an international flair.
The first thing students usually want to do is ask a question: what they would like their new home to look like. What is more preferable to live alone or with other people? How far from the campus they are willing to live? What is their budget?
