The University of Colorado Boulder (commonly referred to as CU or Colorado) is a public research university of Colorado system located in a small city in a suburban setting with a residential campus.


The university consists of nine colleges and schools and offers over 150 academic programs leading to bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.


U.S. News & World Report ranked the University of Colorado Boulder tied for 38th among public universities in the U.S., and 46th best among all universities globally in 2017. Besides, twenty-four CU-Boulder graduate school specialty programs are ranked in the top 50 in the United States.
