The campus is in the midst of a tremendous growth spurt with new and remodeled facilities coming on-line on a regular basis. It sits 5 km east of downtown Riverside, and comprises 450 ha divided into eastern and western areas by the State Route 60 freeway.
It's not just the world-class faculty and facilities that make UC Riverside the place to be — it's also the thriving arts community, the one-of-a-kind special collections and lecture series that attract experts from around the world as well as it's the concerts, film festivals, dazzling dance performances and thought-provoking theater. It's the beauty of our Botanic Gardens and famed 22-acre Citrus Variety Collection. It's the Campus Store and KUCR, universities non-commercial radio station playing cutting-edge music. And, of course, it's the UCR Libraries, with over two million volumes and home to the world's largest cataloged collection of science fiction and fantasy.
Students also have access to the vast collection of literature and resources in UCR libraries: The Tomás Rivera Library and Raymond L. Orbach Science Library, which preserve over 3 million paper volumes and half million electronic resources including one of the biggest science fiction and horror written works collections in the world.
UCR hosts over 400 registered student organizations, including the Associated Students of the University of California, Riverside, which represents undergraduates on administrative and policy issues. Of the registered student groups, 40 are fraternities and sororities.
Student media organizations include The Highlander student newspaper, currently published every Tuesday during the academic year.
With such a diverse system of student organisations on campus, students are encouraged to participate in numerous regular events including concerts, exhibitions and comedy shows. UCR actively supports Afro-American and LGBT communities on campus via specially developed programs and initiatives.
UCR's residence halls consist of three structures—Aberdeen-Inverness, Lothian, and Pentland Hills—which house students in triple, double and single rooms. In addition, UCR features several on-campus apartment complexes. CR also offers student family housing.
About half of the student population lives in off-campus apartments, one-fourth commute, and one-fourth live on campus. Thirty percent of students remain on campus for the weekend.

According to statistics, 88% of the MBA Class of 2015 were employed within 3 months of graduation and earning 13% more than the previous year.
The UCR is located approximately 8 km east of downtown Los Angeles. UCR is also within easy driving distance of dozens of major cultural and recreational sites, as well as desert, mountain and coastal destinations.
The main campus sits on 769 ha in a suburban district of Riverside, California, United States, with a branch campus of 8 ha in Palm Desert.
