The student experience is not just about study, it is about personal enrichment, socialising and life. A place of support and fun, De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU), is here to ensure students have the best-possible experience at DMU. Whether you want advice, to relax, or to party it can all be found in the Campus Centre. There are also more than 140 societies and sports teams, which are a great place to make new friends.
Plus, students get some huge discounts on sports tickets thank to DMU’s partnerships with Leicester City Football Club, rugby union giants Leicester Tigers, and Leicestershire County Cricket Club.
Facilities available for students:
International students can choose from five halls of residence on or very near to campus. Rooms are fully furnished and bedding packs are provided for international students on arrival. All halls are secure, with security cameras and electronic door entry.
New international students joining us in September 2017 are guaranteed a room in university-sourced accommodation if you accept your offer to study at DMU before 25 July 2017.
You can make a provisional room booking online once you have accepted your offer. Please note that Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox are the internet browsers that are compatible with our booking system. You must complete the university online booking process to confirm your room booking. Once you have selected your room, you are required to pay a £250 booking payment; £50 of this charge is a non-refundable administration fee. This secures your provisional booking and you will then be sent an email explaining how to confirm.
Many students have part-time jobs and usually work around 12 hours per week during term time. Also, DMU has launched Unitemps on campus which offers temporary employment opportunities to current and former students. DMU employs more than 100 students each year to work as student ambassadors, helping with campus tours, open days and many other activities across the university. DMU also has its own placement scheme, Frontrunners, which offers students the chance to apply for a placement within the university itself. In addition, Leicester has many part-time opportunities, from bar, restaurant and shop work, to office work.
DMU courses are designed to provide the skills and experience today’s employers look for and include work placements and projects set by leading companies.
