The Student Halls are located on the new campus in the Athalassa area. There are also a Social Activity Centre, Post-Office, Laundry Room and Resident's Information Centre at the Student Halls complex.
As for research resources the university library has an extensive collection of 620,000 titles and it is planned to relocate in 2017 to the new university campus - the Stelios Ioannou Learning Resource Center designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel.
Nicosia is the administrative, commercial, cultural, educational and religious centre of the country and is also geographical centre of the island. A modern highway system connects Nicosia to all main towns and cities, many in under an hour driving time.
There are 25 student clubs at the University of Cyprus involved in educational, cultural, artistic and entertainment activities. Students wishing to arrange a club must draft a statute which must then be approved by the Student Union.
The "Club Evening" is a yearly event organised by the clubs' coordination committee at which students have the opportunity to learn about the activities of the various clubs from their representatives and can enter the clubs of their preference.
The Student Life Office offers support in the arranging and functioning of the clubs. There are also periodic workshops related to administrative and communication matters which aim to develop leadership abilities and improve communication and administrative skills.
Accommodation in the student halls is very limited and priority is given to Erasmus and other Exchange or International students registered for a full academic year.
During the summer months Student Halls are allocated to those Cypriot and International students, academics and visitors who are involved in summer lectures, seminars and other activities organized by the University of Cyprus and other local organizations.
All the registered students may apply for accommodation at the Housing Office in the Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Service.
UCY Career Center is responsible for consulting students in their career questions, organizing lectures and events with career thematic on campus.
The main campus is located in Nicosia, the island's central capital and students are attracted by the university’s proximity to the Mediterranean and the Cyprus’ year-round Mediterranean climate, with abundant sunshine all year round. Long, dry summers and mild winters are separated by short autumn and spring seasons. Summer temperatures can be very high, > 40o at time, while winters are rather mild, with some rain throughout the island and snow on the Troodos Mountains. Lightweight cottons and linens during summer months, and warm clothing and rainwear during winter as recommended as is facial sunscreen SPF 30 or higher.
Travellers to the Republic of Cyprus may enter only through the legal points of entry: Larnaca and Paphos International Airports or Larnaca and Limassol ports. The closest airport to Nicosia is Larnaca International Airport - 49 km. Private taxis, group taxis and buses are available to rich Nicosia. There are limited bus service and private taxis around the city.
