The course aims: to deepen awareness and understanding of the philosophy of helping within a person-centred approach to counselling; to gain an introduction to the Egan ‘Skilled Helper’ model of problem management and opportunity development; to provide opportunities for the development of counselling skills; to increase understanding of the management of the helping process; to provide experience of supervised use of counselling skills; to support the development of competent and reflective practitioners, harnessing increased self-awareness and personal development; to enable students to make links between the learning and their own work setting.
