Students gain the fundamental knowledge required to run a successful business; issues such as personnel, economics, business planning and development, finance and marketing are examined; students must add the following course codes to their UCAS application: Equine studies: EQUS; marketing and supply chain management: MAR; event management: EVE. Equine studies: This strand is designed to give students the opportunity to study a series of related modules which provide an understanding of the basic principles of animal management and to demonstrate the how the management of horses is related to important components of equine biology, physiology, health, feeding and development. Marketing and supply chain management. This strand is designed for students with an interest in how to supply the customer with the right product at the right price, in the right place, at the right time; students explore and develop the skills required to link the primary producer, processors, retailers and consumers; it includes modules covering the development of markets, customer service and orientation, the management of the flow of goods into a supply chain and aspects of logistics and integration. Event management: This series of modules has been developed in response to the growth of event management as a subject in its own right, within the business discipline of operations management; it covers events that can vary in size, including local, regional, national and international events, the most prominent of which are the 2012 Olympics in London; events also vary tremendously in type, including business conferences and corporate events, sporting events, festivals, cultural and artistic events, celebrations, conventions and seasonal events.
