The programme is designed to develop a deeper understanding of how international corporate and commercial law operates in the real world; it will enable successful students to pursue careers in business or return to professional practice with an enhanced understanding of various important area of law and practice; it also provides a firm platform for further research and study by way of an MPhil or PhD.
Studying law in a different country can be daunting, especially so when done at a masters level. English law is premised on the “common law” system, widely used in English speaking countries around the world. It is however very different from the Roman/civil law system used in Russia and other parts of the world. York Law School offers considerable support for students to settle into the common law system, by designing a thorough induction programme to acclimatise all students to the common law system.
