The social care course studies key social issues in contemporary society, and the ways in which social care is delivered and managed in England and Wales; students explore themes such as the legal framework and role of the social care worker; the course offers students the chance to gain credits while working with voluntary and public sector organizations; the deaf studies course equips students to analyse a wide range of issues associated with deafness and the D/deaf community; it allows students to study British Sign Language (BSL) alongside cultural, historical and social issues relating to deafness; students improve their English and BSL communication skills, in class, self study tasks, assignments and debates; students also get the chance to investigate legislation, sign linguistics and language development.
