This course provides study covering advanced networking, mobile technologies and software development technologies that are essential for the development of today’s distributed computer networks including those involving mobile devices; it provides the essential knowledge that students need in their career to design, upgrade and manage computer networks and mobile communication systems; the course focuses on design and implementation and is suitable for applicants with a technical background; it covers the fundamentals of computer networking, UML component modeling and project management; it also addresses tools and techniques for mobile application development; this part of the course has been developed in conjunction with industry to provide hands-on experience developing software for mobile devices; an open source approach to software development is used throughout; the course also addresses the rapidly changing area of network security in which a practical based approach to managing this threat using the latest tools and techniques is employed.
