The product development specialist modules have been specifically developed to compliment the core design programme and are studied during the 3rd and Honours years, with 2 specialist modules taken at each level; the programme provides students with an in-depth understanding of the technologies, methods and principles associated with technical product design and manufacture with the major focus being the application of computer-aided technologies; topics studied include product animation and rendering techniques, the application of computer simulation to evaluate and optimise manufacturing processes for plastics and machined components and the application of micro-controllers in industrial and commercial products.
