The programme has 3 main areas of study: 1st, students develop practical experience in the more traditional skills of visual communication and principles of art and design; through a range of activities, which include analytical drawing, life drawing and design, students become proficient in the use of the visual elements and composition; these topics provide the background knowledge and practical skills, essential to a digital art degree; digital media is the main focus in the 2nd component and looks at how these art and design principles can be applied in the digital domain; students cover topics such as design for print, web design, video production and animation; in the 3rd part, academic studies, students examine the way art and other texts engage with people and societies and provides the opportunity to develop critical thinking; professional issues within the creative industries are also addressed; students experience a number of studio and workshop practices that include individual and team work; there are opportunities to devise, at a professional level, creative projects that bring together all the art learning and digital skills acquired during the course.
