This course prepares graduates to perform at the initial professional level in libraries, information services and agencies of all types in both the public and private sector; the course focuses on the essential core skills of library and information work, while providing an opportunity to specialise later in particular aspects of the profession; plus to develop skills and knowledge in digital archiving and organisation of knowledge; it includes a practical work placement putting theory into practice: management and marketing of information and library; services; organisation of knowledge; library and information sectors; information retrieval; digital libraries; information sources and services; information policy and law; service management; research methods.
