The School of Law is part of the world-ranked University of Reading, rated among the UK's most research intensive institutions and one of the UK's largest, best-known and most successful campus universities.
Foxhill House is the home of the School of Law. This beautiful building was built in 1868 by Alfred Waterhouse, one of the most successful Victorian Architects, who also design National History Museum in London. The house, with grounds of twenty acres, was built on a portion of the Whiteknights estate belonging to Waterhouse’s father.
The School of Law reputation, our research and the quality of the experience enjoyed by our students are consistently recognised in the annual UK university league tables:
The LLM Oil and Gas Law / MSc Oil and Gas programme is a multi-disciplinary programme designed to address the cross-border elements of the oil and gas industry but also respond to the demand for highly qualified professionals. The programme will also be relevant for professionals in the renewable energy sector (especially taking into account the ongoing developments e.g. World Future Energy Summit), as, the sector itself draws significant R&D capability from the oil and gas sector. The LLM Oil and Gas Law / MSc Oil and Gas programme is designed to respond to the demand for professionals in the emerging oil and gas industry. It is hoped that the programme will contribute to the augmentation of knowledge and skills base of the industry and ultimately lead to the optimal use of oil and gas resources.
Law graduates of the LLM and MSc Oil and Gas programme will enhance their knowledge of the oil and gas industry and improve their employability not only for law firms active in these industries but also in in-house legal teams. While many law graduates take professional exams in law and go on to practise law either in the UK or abroad, many others pursue alternative careers. This is particularly the case with those who have chosen to pursue a postgraduate qualification in law, as the skills gained by undertaking a postgraduate law degree are in great demand from both legal and non-legal employers.
