Year 1: Modules may include: introduction to education studies; values in education; development and learning; children, families, education and society; history, policy and welfare; historical and contemporary developments of education and training. Year 2: core modules may include: education and the media; curriculum issues and ideologies; researching education; cultural diversity and inclusive education; language and language development; option modules may include: safeguarding children/child protection; children's literature in education; youth justice and children and young people's rights and entitlements. Year 3: core modules may include: ethics, power and practice; education in popular culture; current issues and major study; dissertation, which is equivalent to 2 other modules; this enables the student to explore in detail an area within education studies which interests them personally; option modules may include: international and comparative education; health and well-being; schooling, childhood and family support; managing and leading in education.
