Applicants should normally be in permanent employment in the construction industry, utilities or public services sector and have their employer's support for undertaking the course; overseas students should demonstrate support from a sponsoring body; applicants should also hold a BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering with minimum 2:1 class degree; applicants with a lower 2nd class degree in BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering will be considered only exceptionally and in discussion with their employer where they are part-time; applicants with other qualifications equivalent to the above that are deemed acceptable to the school will be considered; applicants should have passed final level units in structures, hydraulics and soil mechanics in their BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering degree. Students with an inadequate grasp of these subjects may be asked to undertake appropriate balancing studies before entry; all applicants must attend for interview.
