Year 3: Spent abroad in Scandinavia at a university in the student’s chosen country. Year 4: Advanced Danish/Norwegian/Swedish; sources for the Viking Age 2; Old Norse 2; runology 2; medieval Scandinavian mythology and religion; the Viking legacy in the British Isles; early Christian and Viking period in Scotland or Iceland; 2 further half units from: basic modern Icelandic language; aspects of Scandinavian language history; extended essay; 1/2 unit from outside Scandinavian studies.
