Year 1: Introductory core courses in archaeological method and theory; general introduction to study of ancient Near East; introductions to: Egyptian archaeology; either Egyptian writing and inscriptions, or Middle Egyptian language. Years 2 and 3: Core courses on history and archaeology of ancient Egypt; choice of options in: history of Egyptian archaeology; Egyptian epigraphy; museum studies; language; aspects of Egyptian history and culture; options in other fields of archaeology, history and ancient languages are possible. All students complete a dissertation and carry out 70 days of fieldwork.
