This programme enables students to engage critically with varied aspects of oral and written literatures in Africa; its core course provides theoretical and methodological skills while its other sections focus on specific areas such as African Language literatures and contemporary African literature in English; a major component is a compulsory 10,000 word dissertation, which allows students to carry out a substantial piece of independent academic work on a selected topic.
