Stage 1: Offers an overview of architectural design within a broad cultural, historical and technological context; it introduces students to the design process through a sequence of projects that form the core of the programme; there is a strong design studio culture, in which students discuss design with architects, fine artists, engineers, conservationists and ecologists; the studio teaching is complemented by study visits. Stages 2 and 3: Explore aspects of design in greater depth and students undertake a piece of personal research culminating in a written dissertation; professional practice and management is developed throughout the whole degree.
