Students are introduced to the programme through a general grounding of basic environmental and socially engaged art; they develop their theory and practice based research both individually and in groups reflecting upon the work of internationally acclaimed artists; project processes and management are key areas of activity approached through a specific team-building project that often liaises with postgraduate students from other universities and other disciplines; issues addressed in this course are: ecology; social engagement; climate change; public arts; arts in healthcare; urban design; and activist arts; each student is expected to define what environment(s) they address in their practice; and be prepared to critically engage contemporary debates in the development of that practice.
