Programme examines the application of strategic design thinking and practice through exercises and debates, while also addressing questions relating to design context such as manufacture, fabrication or materials technology; students pursue a project which may deal with such areas as commercial graphic design (e.g. branding), 3-dimensional objects (e.g. furniture or a consumer product), spatial design (e.g. design for environment or interior design), design strategy (e.g. product strategy design for a company) or a text (e.g. an analysis or evaluation of product and customer interface, or a theoretical study); key issues areas of the programme are the user needs, user interface, an holistic approach to design, and the role of strategic thinking in design practice; electives and the dissertation enable each student to pursue an academic route which fits their specialist interests, personal preferences and career aspirations.
