The programme provides opportunities for study across a wide range of 3-dimensional design disciplines including product, furniture, jewellery, ceramics, interior, and theatre design; through a combination of both practical and theory sessions students develop skills and understanding in areas such as design principles, model making 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional computer applications, drawing and communication; after an initial period, during which students will study 6 core units, they will elect to work in one of 3 subject areas: small scale (jewellery and ceramics), human scale (product, furniture)and spatial (interior, theatre/television set); each subject area will cover ten specialist units selected to support students' career aims; in the second year of the programme students may undertake a period of work placement, confirming their specialism prior to completing a self defined final major project.
