This student-centred programme gives a sound basis for progressing to a research degree or for designing projects to evaluate theory and practice in the workplace; it provides a forum where theories of group and inter-cultural psychotherapy can be critically examined and evaluated in terms of their relevance to practice with a wide range of client groups; it assumes that students develop a research attitude enabling the boundaries of the discipline to be extended. the programme is divided into interrelated sections: the sociocultural context in which group psychotherapy takes place; group psychotherapy with specific client populations; theoretical issues; transcultural issues; group psychotherapy and group dynamics in both clinical and non-clinical settings; inter-cultural therapy with different client groups; religion and psychotherapy; modifications of group psychotherapy such as art, music and drama therapy, psychodrama; research methods appropriate to group psychotherapy; these are open to change and development depending on the interests and needs of the student group.
