This is a fine art degree that aims to equip students with creative, interpretive, critical and analytical skills, so that they can participate in and contribute to the expanding field of contemporary art; the degree structure enables students to develop their work through exploring selected media and approaches, including: Drawing, painting, constructed textiles, film, installation, performance, photography, printed textiles, printmaking, sculpture, stitch, fabric and video; students can specialise in 1 or more media throughout the degree; studio teaching is enhanced by technical support, which introduces students to techniques relevant to the development of their work; students are allocated a studio space each year which forms the focal point of their activities; in the final year students mount an exhibition of their studio practice for assessment, which is then open to the public.
