Research supervision available in: advanced materials (Centre for Advanced Materials): growth and characterisation of II-VI compound semiconductors by metal organic vapour phase epitaxy (MOVPE); Optoelectronic Materials Research Laboratory: main research focus is photo-assisted MOVPE of II-VI semiconductors for range of applications, including infra-red detectors, solar cells, radiation detectors and visible emitters; wide range of research projects: fundamentals of growth kinetics; in situ optical characterisation of epitaxial growth; new methods for monitoring thin-film evaporators; applications of thermal imaging in monitoring materials processing; characterisation of epitaxial layers and devices.
The main Wrexham campus is a short walk from Wrexham town centre.
The Flintshire campus is set in 91 hectares of landscaped gardens at the Welsh College of Horticulture, accessible by car and bus.
Excellent road and rail links connect Wrexham with Manchester and Liverpool in under an hour, and there are direct train services to Cardiff and London.
