This course provides students with the opportunity to design and realise innovative textiles and accessories for the body; explore image, placement, colour and textile materials in the broadest context possible throughout the course; there is a strong emphasis on visual research and interpretation; all design work is underpinned with a diverse range of textile and fashion skills; students explore knitted and woven techniques, machine, digital and surfaced fabrics, stitch, embellishment, prototyping, 3-dimensional development and fashion illustration; through the diverse skill base, students are encouraged to produce experimental and highly individual work to adorn the body; they work to external and competition briefs to produce contemporary and contextual design, as well as developing self-negotiated briefs for ground breaking unique work; application deadline: March 2010.
