This course aims to equip students with a balance of design skills that may be applied to a wide spectrum of products; this requires the intelligent co-ordination and good management of many different disciplines from the arts and the sciences according to the dictates of the design task; students are provided with the design tools and techniques necessary to achieve their potential; students learn to use modem methods for aesthetic and engineering design including CAD techniques using the latest design software; together with engineering science; material and manufacturing technologies and design methodologies; students who are able to demonstrate their aptitude and potential are offered the opportunity to proceed to the undergraduate masters course (MDes) at the end of their second year.
