Year 1: Includes: building a specific element of scenery, working to a professional designer's specifications and working closely with technicians to plan how it might be flown in a proscenium arch theatre; learning basic welding and cutting techniques; working as part of a team building or adapting scenery for a studio production. Year 2: Includes: learning to use computer-aided design (CAD); students build a set for a public production, either on their own or as part of team; designing and making automated scenery. Year 3: Includes: being the Head of Department on a full-scale realised production in the Embassy Theatre or Studio, managing other students building scenery, and co-ordinating with all the other members of the creative and production team; working ‘on the bench' with a professional scenery building company for a term.
