Years 1 and 2: Foundation modules in: Global environmental issues; humans and environment; introductory geology; ecological communities; environmental processes; geographical analysis and techniques (with field courses in the UK and overseas). Years 3 and 4: Advanced options including: coastal processes and management; conservation: people, policy and practice; earth history; earth's resources and raw materials; environmental modelling; evolution of terrestrial ecosystems; experimental geomorphology; flowering plants; hillslope hydrology; historical evolution of the earth; land plants; plant ecology field course; plants under stress; pollution and hydrogeology; pollution, reclamation and plant ecology; principles of geographical information systems; remote sensing and image processing; sedimentation and stratigraphy; species and population; vertebrate ecology and conservation; vertebrate palaeontology; weekend field classes in environmental interpretation and ecological survey and monitoring; other units from geology, ecology and geography are also available; the final year must include a research project or literature review, or both.
